  • Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the only profession dedicated to the detection and correction of Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC). VSC occurs when there is an interference to the nerve system caused by the movable bones of the spine. VSC is the underlying cause of many health problems. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls virtually every cell, tissue, organ and system of the body. Therefore, therapies are based on the fact that disease is often caused by interference with nerve function. And using spinal adjustment to bring nerves back "on line" means restoration of normal nerve function, in a natural, non-stress method, and without drugs.

The purpose of chiropractic treatment is not to bring about a "cure", but rather to assist the body to cure itself by restoring the correct alignment of the spine.
  • Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine theorizes that there are more than 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, and that these connect with 12 main and 8 secondary pathways called meridians. These meridian points are believed to conduct energy, or qi (pronounced "chee"), throughout the body. Qi is believed to regulate spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance and to be influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang. When yin and yang are balanced, they work together with the natural flow of qi to help the body achieve and maintain health.

Acupuncture is believed to balance yin and yang, keep the normal flow of energy unblocked, and maintain or restore health to the body and mind. Traditional Chinese medicine practices (including acupuncture, herbs, diet, massage, and meditative physical exercise) all are intended to improve the flow of qi.
  • Trigger-Point Therapy

This is the most effective therapy for the trigger points. Trigger points are accumulations of waste products around a nerve receptor. Often times they feel like nodules or taut bands of fibers within the soft tissues. Trigger points form in muscles which have been overused or injured due to an accident or surgery. Common characteristics are increased muscle tension and muscle shortening. Increased muscle tension is the primary side-effect of trigger points and pain is the most common secondary effect.

Trigger points can present themselves as referred patterns of sensation such as sharp pain, dull ache, tingling, pins and needles, hot or cold, as well as can create symptoms such as nausea, ear ache, equilibrium disturbance, or blurred vision.

  • Shiatsu / Acupressure

Shiatsu, the most widely known form of acupressure, literally meaning "finger pressure", and has been practiced for more than a thousand years. Shiatsu uses rhythmic pressure from 3 to 10 seconds on specific points along the body's meridians by using the fingers, hands, elbows, knees, and sometimes feet to unblock and stimulate the flow of energy.

A session my also include gentle stretching and range-of-motions manipulations. Shiatsu is used to treat pain and illness, to relax the body, and to maintain general health.
  • Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is now known as "traditional" massage. Swedish massage includes long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions. It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body's largest organ, sets up a chain reaction that produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, and promotes health and wellbeing.

Also available are Pregnancy Massage and Aromatherapy.
  • Deep-Tissue / Sports Massage

This is very effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause the athlete discomfort or impede performance. By using the correct techniques, this therapy will help active person maintain a much healthier physical state.
